This year’s fall concert is a TRIBUTE TO VETERANS.
This year, the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock will have a pre-show starting at 3:30 p.m. featuring the South Plains Boy Scouts who will present the colors. We will also recognize the veterans present and have slides of area flags running while we introduce the veterans who attend. The pre-show will feature an honored guest, an 102-year-old Lubbock woman who was a WAVE in WWII. This performance is our small way of showing our gratitude to the soldiers, past and present, who put themselves in harm’s way in order to preserve our freedoms.
So many have come to this country seeking refuge, and found a home. My own family is counted among the immigrants who have been able to live and grow safely under the protections and freedoms our Constitution allows – freedoms that were denied in their country of origin. But, we are ever mindful that freedom is never free, and ever grateful for the men and women who are willing to take on the duty of service. We are honored to have veterans, servicemen, and service women attend this concert, and welcome all to join us at the Frenship Performing Arts Center as we honor their legacy of freedom and service.
