The competitor must be a current member in good standing of the YOL Symphony Orchestra.
Judges will be selected by the YOL SO Conductor in consultation with the YOL Board of Directors from professional musicians within the community. A YOL conductor will attend the contest and serve as a consultant to the judges.
Winners will be chosen by the contest judges. The number of winners is not predetermined.
All decisions made by the judges (in consultation with the Symphony Orchestra Conductor) are final.
Concerto winners will be featured only once during their YOL membership. Once a member has won the competition, they are ineligible for participation on other instruments that they may also play.
Compositions with two or more soloists (e.g., violin and cello, for example) are allowed.
If multiple contestants are chosen as winners, the performance will count as each player’s one performance during their YOL membership.
This will be a live audition. Recorded auditions will not be accepted except under extreme circumstances. Please note that recorded auditions are never as good as live performances.
